Growing up in North Louisiana we never saw Saints games on television or knew anything about the Saints. The only NFL teams we were exposed to were the Cowboys, 49ers, Steelers, Giants, Packers, and Patriots. Consequently, Dallas was just a few hours away. So, we were flushed with Cowboys promotion more than any other team. In fact, for many folks in the North, Dallas was the only team they knew anything about period. North Louisiana’s infactuation with the Cowboys actually has more to do with Dallas’ impact on North Louisiana than it does about the Cowboys franchise. People in North…

Coach Broderick Fobbs came into a struggling Grambling Football program four years ago. Upon his arrival, changes were immediately made and his efforts have helped to turn the program around. While Grambling will always be known as the house that Coach Eddie Robinson built, and rightfully so, fans are witnessing the Fobbs era and what seems to be the brink of something great for North Louisiana and Tiger fans all over the world. In Louisiana, Grambling and Southern, play their biggest game of the year in New Orleans each year during Thanksgiving Week. The ‘Bayou Classic” has been rejuvenated since…

You can feel it in the air all over the state for weeks prior to the exciting weekend. Black People in Louisiana don’t get excited about Thanksgiving. We get excited about Bayou Classic! A weekend of festivities was nearly shattered due to massive shooting on Bourbon St. hours after the game but the shooting had nothing to do with Bayou Classic directly. Common thugs attempted to destroy such a wonderful tradition but the fans would not allow it to stop their friendly comradery. NOPD was on the scene within minutes and one of the suspects was arrested immediately. It shouldn’t…
