With each news update surrounding the Jussie Smollet case it’s hard not to get more disgusted than we were with the previous news update. For most people, the story was questionable from the beginning. It’s very hard to believe White Supremecists are roaming the streets of Chicago at 2AM when the weather is below zero looking for a specific gay Black man to torture. Supposedly, they put a noose around his neck, beat him up, drowned him in bleach, and yelled racial/homophobic slurs at him. They also yelled “MAGA” rants while doing it… supposedly. MAGA referencing the popular slogan from…

Designers such as Gucci, H&M, Prada, Moncler, and even Dove continue trying to unravel their brands from the debauchery they created for themselves with distasteful marketing campaigns which have insulted their Black consumer bases. Gucci, Prada, and Moncler clothiers have used images of ‘blackface’ associated with their products. Gucci recently made a public apology for a black sweater they released which covered the face and outlined the lips in red with exact similarities to the depiction of the ‘Blackface of the 1800’s’. In 2018, Dove went under fire when they released an ad of a Black girl using their product…

Roger Goodell, the NFL Commissioner, has basically given the New Orleans Saints his middle finger. I will translate what he really said into plain English so you have a better understanding of what’s really happening in the biggest scandal in the History of American Sports. Goodell held his Annual Superbowl Press Conference in Atlanta but for the first time in History, the majority of the questions asked by reporters were not even about the Superbowl nor the two teams involved. In fact, there were very few reporters even interested in the game period. The country is sending a bold message…

No need to go over the unbelievable missed calls in the 2019 NFC Champsionship in the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans. The whole world must know by now how the game would’ve ended. With less than two minutes on the clock, had the call been made all QB Drew Brees would have to do is kneel the ball three times and kick a field goal that a Middle School kicker could make with his eyes closed and the New Orleans Saints would be on their way to their second Superbowl appearance. Pundants have said no game should come down…

Not every man is the same but all men are tired of getting the same gifts each year. Most men already know his lady is going to buy him cologne. It’s the top gift for a man every year. Men do love cologone but just like women, men can also tell when no thought went into a gift. Luckily, men don’t care too much about the price. For most men, gifts don’t have to be expensive or popular. One thing is true about every man… the gift just has to be relevant TO HIM. Because every man is different, its…

Music has always been the cornerstone of Black Culture. Slaves sang while picking cotton on Southern plantations. Singing gave comfort during the Civil Rights marches of the 60’s. It was music and poetry in Harlem which became the roots of a renaissance for the denied Black artists in the 1920’s. Before keyboards and drums were welcomed into our services on Sunday mornings, Black churchgoers hummed, tapped, moaned, and clapped their hands to praise the Lord. We are a musically inclined community and we can’t help it. Its embodied in our DNA. It flows in our bloodline from African tribal chants…

Growing up in North Louisiana we never saw Saints games on television or knew anything about the Saints. The only NFL teams we were exposed to were the Cowboys, 49ers, Steelers, Giants, Packers, and Patriots. Consequently, Dallas was just a few hours away. So, we were flushed with Cowboys promotion more than any other team. In fact, for many folks in the North, Dallas was the only team they knew anything about period. North Louisiana’s infactuation with the Cowboys actually has more to do with Dallas’ impact on North Louisiana than it does about the Cowboys franchise. People in North…

I will walk before I pay $400 to fly somewhere that’s only 5 hours away. There is a definite need for more regional carriers in this country. Until then, I will ride a horse across state before I pay that kind of money to fly. I needed to make a last minute trip to Atlanta. No way you can beat a roundtrip for $55 on Megabus. If you’ve never rode Megabus before let me tell you. The Megabus only makes three stops along your route. Its MUCH different than Greyhound or Trailways. It feels as if Greyhound stops to pick…

Thanks to an LSU game there were no flights available this weekend. So, it forced me to travel by train. I actually like the train better than flying but it takes longer. Sitting in the terminal in New Orleans, LA I was quickly reminded why I love riding Amtrak. A lovely woman sitting next to me leaned over to ask if I knew why our train was delayed. After finding out Amtrak gave us all different reasons (typical) we laughed about it. I heard someone beckon her. “Lucille,” they said. “The train is about to pull in.” She asked if…
