The Encounter Makes The Difference

Acts 9:1-8 (NLT)
1 Meanwhile, Saul was uttering threats with every breath andwas eager to kill the Lord’s followers. So he went to the high priest. 2 He requested letters addressed to thesynagogues in Damascus, asking for their cooperation in the arrest of anyfollowers of the Way he found there. He wanted to bring them—both men and women—back to Jerusalem in chains. 3 Ashe was approaching Damascus on this mission, a light from heaven suddenly shonedown around him. 4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?” 5 “Who are you, lord?” Saul asked. And the voice replied, “I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting! 6 Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” 7 The men with Saul stood speechless, for they heard the sound of someone’s voice but saw no one! 8 Saul picked himself up off the ground, but when he opened his eyes he was blind. So his companions led him by the hand to Damascus.

Saul had no problem with God. He had an issue with Jesus. Many of us miss the mark because we lift up God but we tend to avoid proclaiming Jesus. Saul had been threatening and arresting anyone who followed Jesus. He was passionate about these persecutions UNTIL he met Jesus for himself.

John 14:11-12 (NKJV)
11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father inMe, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves. 12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.

We are able to do many great works through the Power of the Holy Ghost. Most times people connect the Holy Ghost with an emotion they see during a church service. The Holy Spirit doesn’t give you tears. He gives you Power.

Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV)
18 And you shall remember the Lord your God, for itis He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

Life is not Black and White. There is power in the Gray area. That’s the area you have no control over. We are used to ‘This happening because of That’. But the Holy Ghost doesn’t play those rules. He can cause what you least expect to happen and you won’t even understand what just happened.

Acts 9:8-17 (NLT)
8 Saul picked himself up off the ground, but when he openedhis eyes he was blind. So his companions led him by the hand to Damascus. 9 He remained there blind for three days anddid not eat or drink. 10 Now therewas a believer in Damascus named Ananias. The Lord spoke to him in a vision, calling, “Ananias!” “Yes, Lord!” he replied. 11 TheLord said, “Go over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. When you getthere, ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul. He is praying to me right now. 12 I have shown him a vision of a man namedAnanias coming in and laying hands on him so he can see again.” 13 “But Lord,” exclaimed Ananias, “I’ve heardmany people talk about the terrible things this man has done to the believersin Jerusalem! 14 And he isauthorized by the leading priests to arrest everyone who calls upon your name.”15 But the Lord said, “Go, for Saulis my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings, aswell as to the people of Israel. 16 AndI will show him how much he must suffer for my name’s sake.” 17 So Ananias went and found Saul. He laidhis hands on him and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road, has sent me so that you might regain your sight and be filled withthe Holy Spirit.”
