The worst feeling in the world is the anger you get when you have been faithful to someone and you find out they haven’t been faithful to you. It feels like a vacuum sucks your whole soul out of you and leaves you completely cleaned out of kindness.
In that moment, you don’t want to hear a bible verse. You don’t want to hear anything about Forgiveness. You don’t have anything positive to say. You just want to be mad and believe you have every right to be furious. Take your time. Let it out. Cry it out. Cuss it out. Do whatever you have to do to release the anger.
There is no sense in going over the past in your head. There is nothing you could have done to prevent it from happening. If you had fulfilled all the needs and desires of that person, the outcome would be the same. There is only one reason people ultimately cheat… they lack Discipline. The old folks call it a “sound mind”.
Self Discipline is the proof of who we really are. We are all tempted daily but we only become weak when we allow the temptation to break us. We’re supposed to know how to look without touching. We’re supposed to know how to be casual with other people without pursuing a closer encounter.
Self Discipline separates the real ‘Grown Ups’ from the ones who are just grown according to their age. Quit blaming yourself. Quit trying to make sense of it. The reason will never justify the action. If a person doesn’t understand what real commitment means they will never be disciplined enough to be faithful to you.
Discipline and Commitment are Siamese Twins. Its impossible to have one without the other.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
