Hosea 6:3 (KJV)
Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.
The best way to understand a Latter Rain in the Spirit is to parallel it with the purpose of Rain with nature.
When a seed is planted in the Earth, water from the first rain mixes with the soil to open up the seed’s shoot. When the shoot reaches the ground, it harvests energy from the sun. Imbibition is the first step of Germination. It is the absorption of water that helps the seed coat expand. This is when the shoot starts developing and eventually breaks ground when the temperature and light is right.
The thing about Germination is… above the ground we can’t see it taking place. GOD IS DOING A WORK BENEATH THE SURFACE WHICH MAY NOT BE VISIBLE TO EVERYONE ELSE AT THE MOMENT.
In your life you will have to go through life stages. You can’t give up in Germination before you even Sprout. You can’t give up during a Sprout before you even maturate.
During ripening, the plant gets the last rain of the season. It ripens the fruit and prepares it for Harvest. The key is can you hold on until your latter rain comes?
Jesus is our first rain. The Holy Ghost is the latter rain. The blood of Jesus germinated us. The Spirit of Jesus ripens us.
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
